Effective engine protection – NeoMag technology from Master-Sport

The oil in a combustion engine is intended to lubricate moving contact points, and its appropriate properties (defined according to ASE or API standards) allow it to be selected for the operating conditions. However, during operation it becomes dirty due to the mixing of oil, metal particles, unburnt fuel and particles produced during chemical processes generated during combustion.

To ensure the high quality of the lubricant throughout the entire period of operation, a filter is incorporated in the oil main to absorb these harmful substances. Its principle of operation is based on the flow of oil through a membrane made of appropriate cleaning paper with an admixture of synthetic fibers, impregnated with resins, on which dirt settles.

Filter contamination
Every oil filter becomes contaminated. This contamination involves a reduction in the throughput of the perforation in the membrane, which causes the oil to bypass it and continue to flow uncleaned through the overflow valve (which is a safety valve in the oil main). This may result in increased fuel consumption, decreased engine performance, and in extreme cases even engine damage. This is where you should pay attention to metal particles in the lubricant.
They are a natural factor resulting from poor lubrication as a result of friction between friction elements, such as the bush – shaft or piston rings – cylinder.
And since the flow of lubricant is always difficult when starting a cold engine, the amount of metal particles that enter the oil circuit depends only on the user and his driving style in the first phase of movement. Taking into account their size, it is natural that the filter element becomes contaminated more quickly and reduces the properties of the oil filter.

Is there a solution for this?
It turns out that it is very simple. In the Master-Sport laboratories, the innovative Neo-Mag technology was developed, which allows for increasing the efficiency of the oil filter. The filter made using NeoMag technology uses a neodymium magnet, which eliminates the problem of metal particles moving in the oil. A neodymium magnet is a permanent magnet made from a combination of neodymium, iron and boron. It is produced using powder metallurgy methods, i.e. pressing powdered components in a magnetic field at elevated temperature. These magnets produce a very strong magnetic field, which translates into a high attractive force (approx. 10 times greater than a traditional magnet). If such a magnet is attached to the filter housing (in can filters) or to the outer ring of the membrane (in the case of replaceable cartridges), metal particles will be “captured” from the oil and attracted to one place.

Effect? Longer, cheaper, more reliable
The use of this type of device means that we are not only cleaning the oil as in traditional filters (the membrane is made of standard materials used by renowned manufacturers), but also capturing particles that normally block the filter, limiting its effectiveness. This increases the efficiency of the filter, extends the lubricity of the medium and the degree of cleaning, so we can feel more confident that there will be no engine failure.

Who is this filter for?
The recipients of the innovative NeoMag technology, patented by Master-Sport, are all drivers, because its advantages include more efficient filtration, extended operation time of the filter membrane and many times higher engine protection. However, there are three groups of drivers for whom this solution is particularly recommended:
– Owners of new cars with modern gasoline engines. The current downsizing trend in the automotive industry, which consists in offering engines with small displacement and equipped with turbocharging, forces greater care for these drive units. While the crankshaft rotates at a speed of approximately 6,000-8,000 rpm, the supercharger turbine can reach speeds of up to 250,000 rpm. Therefore, any contamination of the oil (the turbocharger shaft is an element of the engine’s oil main and is lubricated with engine oil) may damage the turbine bearings, which will shorten the service life. The NeoMag technology filter additionally protects the turbocharger, ensuring its longer life.
– Owners of new cars with a diesel engine. The introduction of common rail injection technology completely changed the perception of diesel engines. Currently, it is no longer a car whose main advantages are low operating costs and high torque. Currently, diesel models are in no way inferior to, and often superior to, petrol versions. Therefore, they are often bought by people who drive very dynamically. Since the diesel crankshaft rotates at around 5,000-6,000 rpm and the turbine shaft at up to 250,000 rpm, any oil contamination will have disastrous consequences for the engine’s durability. Therefore, the innovative NeoMag technology provides greater certainty of proper lubrication of all engine components.
– People who like sports driving. This is a group that often uses high engine speeds. Although it is aware of the need to ensure proper engine lubrication and buys high-quality oils and filters, even this will not eliminate all risks. NeoMag technology filters, in addition to eliminating harmful substances from the oil, also guarantee the removal of metal particles, which are “pumped” along with the oil in the oil main when driving faster.
It is also worth noting a shortcoming that drivers and mechanics often forget about. When changing the oil traditionally through the drain plug, the mechanic may notice disturbing dirt coming out of the oil pan, indicating unusual damage. With modern replacement technology (suction), this is impossible. The NeoMag technology filter works perfectly here, as the mechanic can easily spot the failure, just like in the case of a classic replacement.
